Back in the saddle again

For the past six months, I’ve been on medical leave from almost everything. When I returned from the Art in the Open and the Summer Solstice events in June (both rare exception leaves from medical leave), I dumped \all the supplies and works that I’d brought with me on my studio floor. This past week, I sorted and cleaned and cleaned and sorted. My mother asked, “Wasn’t that unbearably boring?”

No, Mom, it wasn’t since all all kinds of inspirational flotsam and jetsam that I’d forgotten about surfaced AND I expanded my shelving so that every primary and secondary color, black and white, and the metallics have their own 36” space that includes paints – acrylic, tempera, glitter – ribbons, sequins, fabric and, yes, flotsam and jetsam, of their own kind.  All in preparation of starting on those visions of pieces I’ve imagined, like sugarplums dancing in my head.
